Cookie Policy
1. About this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Hearo Phonics Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on the Hearo Phonics platform and website ("the Platform"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions of Use.
The Platform is used by teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs). Pupils do not hold accounts and do not sign in, so the cookies described here relate to staff use of the Platform rather than to children.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, keep you signed in between pages, and remember your preferences. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, which work in much the same way. In this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies".
3. Cookies we use
We keep our use of cookies to a minimum. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data to advertisers.

A current, itemised list of the individual cookies in use — including their names and providers — is available through the cookie settings link on our website.
4. Your consent
Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, because the Platform cannot be provided without them. For all other cookies we will ask for your consent before they are placed, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
- Consent is requested through a banner when you first visit, with a genuine choice to accept or reject non-essential cookies.
- Rejecting non-essential cookies is as easy as accepting them, and the Platform remains fully usable if you decline.
- You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link on our website.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including deleting existing cookies and blocking new ones. Guidance is provided by each browser under its privacy or settings menu. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in and using the Platform.
Where a school manages devices centrally, browser and cookie settings may be controlled by the school's IT administrator.
6. Third-party cookies
Some cookies may be set by service providers acting on our behalf, for example our hosting and analytics providers. These providers are bound by contract to process data only on our instructions. Our authorised sub-processors are listed in Annex A of our Terms and Conditions of Use.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in response to changes in law, technology or our business practices. We will provide schools with at least one week's written notice by email before any material change takes effect. The version number and date at the top of this document will be updated whenever a change is made, and the current version will always be published on our website.
